The Conway Trailer Tent Range
The Conway trailer tent range ceased to exist in 2003, when they began trading under the pennine group name, and started selling folding campers instead. However, the Conway name can still be seen in many places for their pre 2003 trailer tents. If you want one now it will have to be a used trailer tent. Having said this, the used market has hundreds of Conway trailer tents available. The reason is that they made fabulous and stylish products for many years. They still manufacture folding campers and have a few newer models out this season.
The Conway Classic 2000 is still a much sought after trailer tent. It is 6 berth, but can sleep 8 if you use the under bed tents. Two large double beds with mattresses, and a further two more can be utilised. Many storage compartments and a fully equipped kitchen with gas hobs and grill as well as draining facilities are also included.
As you can see the sleeping quarters are very spacious and luxurious, with double lockers for security and storage. There is plenty of privacy with the zip panels for each sleeping compartment and for the main sleeping area. Curtains make the look feel just right. The large awning can also be used to create a huge living space or a sun canopy, and all the panels can be arranged into almost any configuration you can think of.
The kitchen area is located very neatly into the side of the main canopy, with the wardrobe storage next to it. This means you have more space to relax in, and everything is close to hand and convenient. The used prices are around £1000 for this model, and it is still one of the best ever made. Make sure you have a good look at them before you buy, and check for signs of damage that could mean costly repair bills in the future.
Another popular Conway trailer tent is the Classic Trio which is a 6 berth tent. There are two double beds and two single beds can be extended for extra sleeping accomodation. The awning is either 1.5 or 2.5 metres, and you can add bigger sized awnings with a little know how. A portable kitchen area with double hob and grill, as well as a sink and draining board are included, along with plenty storage spaces. You will also find storage space under the beds and lockers and wardrobes as well. All the windows have curtains and the roofing is fully lined with optional carpets. Overall a very luxurious feel for little money on the second hand market. Prices are around £1000 for one in very good condition.
Other models are the Coniston, which is similar in spec to the Classic, and comes with ample sleeping quarters and kitchen area with double hob and grill. What sets it apart is the stylish design and colours. The trailer is compact and easy to tow, and it offers great comfort for up to 8 people if you extend the inner tent. It is a very large tent, with a big awning to give more space if needed. All the front an side panels can be removed or zipped up to create any kind of arrangement you need. Great versatility and quality all round. A very popular trailer tent indeed.
The used prices are about £1000 to £1200 for a good one that has not been abused. You will find that most Conway trailer tents are in good condition because they are so well made and durable. Another good choice is the Conway Olympia, which is truly huge, and offers accomodation for the whole family, and then some. Very stylish and well designed, it has all the features previously mentioned, but it is the flagship tent, and the best overall package.
The Conway Continental is a 2008 trailer, and has a very good standard specification which includes a stainless steel sink, double hob unit, inner tents, a free standing table and a vinyl floor. The prices start at around £5490 for the basic trailer. If you want to add some extras then an awning is about £900, an awning extension is £270, and the inner tent for the awning is about £100. It can sleep 6 people in comfort, and is one of the top rated Conway trailers.
The Conway Countryman is a step up in both price and comfort, and it will cost you around £7000, which is pretty expensive, but you are getting a top quality, very well made trailer from one of the best names in the business. Included as standard are a fridge, oven, cooker, an electric supply and interior lighting. The decor is high quality and built to last. The best feature is that it is very simple to erect and easy to to due to it’s narrow body. It sleeps 4 people, but it does it with real style.
The Conway Cruiser is part of the new Platinum series and is built on the larger Pathfinder chassis. It is laiden with extras and high quality interior decor. It sleeps 6 people and the price is around £9000. For this price you get a fully equipped kitchen area with all appliances and ammenities, wrap around seating areas, tables, wardrobes, sheleves, many storage spaces. Everything really!! It is like having a caravan without the extra price tag and towing problems. A small family car can tow this trailer tent without difficulty, and this makes it much more fuel efficient than towing a heavy caravan. It can be set up in under 10 minutes, which is a big plus point.
The Conway Crusader is the top of the range, and it costs around £9500 in standard specification. It has all the facilities that the Cruiser has , but in addition there is a washing room area and toilet. The cabin and awning are mildew resistant, water proof and will not fade. This trailer is built to last, and the price reflects the outstanding quality of the Conway. The ultimate in every sense.
